Duncan,
Here is one of my First set ups.


The First camera I used to shoot my cars.......


I then got this canon camera


When I got the Canon 20D I hated it (Christmas present from the wife) I still used the A95 for almost a year.I finally got a different lens for the 20D and haven't looked back........................Gave the A95 to the wife........

Yes,the light tent is a fabric on a wire frame,the part you are refering to is the"front" The piece that is draped downward from the "opening" is a flap that you can put up so that just the camera lens goes through the "hole.

The refective floor is a piece of Glass laid down under the car.

One more thing,the two most important things of photographing the small 1/64's is "lighting" also something to stabilize your camera........I use a tri-pod for that.
