Default Auto World 1964 Pontiac Gran Prix

I dont get out often, but when I do Toys R Us is on my list of places to visit. Got this AW Pontiac last trip, and its a stunner! In high school, a friends parents had a new 63 Grand Prix in dark Blue, with a 421! Neat car then, super neat car now.

My mom had a '62 GP in this color.Blue interior and the 8 lug wheels. In '64 she traded it in for a coral GP.This time a white interior, and again, the 8 lug wheels.Mom despised boring cars.I never drove the '62.At that time I only had a motorcycle license so the family car insurance wouldn't be raised for having a driver under 25.It didn't bother me.I had a '48 Indian Chief for transportation.

Although I was never fortunate enough to own one of these beautiful Pontiacs myself, a fraternity brother of mine owned a gorgeous 1967 GTO convertible, in robin's egg blue with white top and interior, which left a lasting impression on me. I have several Green Light examples in similar color schemes to remind me of the beauty of that car. Too bad the Pontiac is now gone, but we do have these nice examples to help us to remember.

Default Family Pontiacs

I grew up in a Pontiac family, the first was a 54 Pontiac two door hardtop That was a major change, it replaced my moms 39 Hudson sedan. In 1956 the 54 was traded for a beautiful 56 Pontiac two door hardtop in blue and white In the next few years it was a 59 Bonneville 2 door hardtop in white, a 65 Bonnevulle 4 door hardtop (never liked it!), and 69 was a Grand Prix SJ in metallic green Their last Pontiac was a 75 2 door hardtop. It was just a so-so car After that, they switched to Cadillacs

I've always liked Pontiacs, and 20 years ago when my neighbor asked me if I wanted to buy his 61 Bonneville 2 door hardtop shown here, I said yes before he had finished speakng! Its got 60,000 miles and is all original. Still have it.
