Default Ertl 1/64 Dick Tracy 1936 Ford Police Car

When the Dick Tracy movie came out years ago, we were treated to a number of 1930’s models in various scales including this 1/64 1936 Ford Police sedan.

Default Dick Tracy

Sorry, I'm not a movie buff, and dont know if there was an earlier version of the film.

Yes, That Ford has been on my open shelf for maybe 20 years or more. Most of my 1/64 models are on open shelves, and all could use a good cleaning. Problem is old decals and paint can suffer more from cleaning than just leaving them alone. The chrome too does take a beating when left on open shelves. However, with open shelves they are much more visible to me. Most of my 1/64 are on shelves in the stairwell to my toy room. Its really neat as they are mostly at eye level as you take each strep down the stairs.

OK................................

It's made by Ertl..................you have had it 20 years or MORE...............

The Dick Tracy movie that came to mind was the 1990 one with Warren Beatty

So Ertl did not take it from that movie.

I wonder where they got the permission? The comic book ??

Default 1936 Ford

Base shows "copyright Disney" but no date. Looking it up, this was a Disney movie from 1990.

There was a series of approximate 1:64 diecast cars manufactured by ERTL, and released in conjunction with the Dick Tracy (Disney) movie. A set of four can be seen http://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-Ertl-Di...-/321660128759 here. [Disclaimer: These are not my eBay lots, nor do I know the seller. They are shown merely for reference].

In addition to the 1936 Ford four door police sedan, there were a couple of 5 window 1936 Ford coupes. Also issued as part of the Dick Tracy series were a couple of 1939 Chevy Master 4 door sedans which can be seen http://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-ERTL-DI...MAAOSwPe1UIa38 here. [Disclaimer: These are not my eBay lots, nor do I know the seller. They are shown merely for reference].

Notice that the doors on the 1939 Dick Tracy Chevy Master open like conventional doors, whereas the doors on the real 1939 Chevy Master were 'suicide' doors. I have a few of the ERTL diecast Chevy Masters which were skillfully modified to include the suicide doors, hubcaps, and authentic detail by an eBay seller who occasionally offers his creations for sale. Yes, these are very nice ~1:64 diecast models.
